WEEDS Art:

Let the children go outside and pick some weeds to glue onto a piece of brown paper. Tell children that we are ALL born “weeds” but that God wants us to NOT be weeds any longer and wants us to produce good fruit! Children can make the weeds into an ART piece to show that GOD wants us to make something beautiful out of the weeds!

PRODUCE PERSON:

Make a drawing of a “produce person.” Draw a pear for its torso, an apple for its belly, bananas for the arms, cucumber for the legs, and the silhouette of small pineapple for its head (the leaves will be the hair). Add the eyes, nose and mouth.

SEED MARKER:

Let children make a colourful Bible Bookmarker with “I WILL HIDE GOD’S WORD IN MY HEART” and tape a seed to the bookmarker. Write in colourful letters today’s Bible verse and try to memorize the verse before leaving class!

TISSUE PAPER FLOWERS:

Make “accordian style” folds in a piece of tissue paper and then pull the tissue layers apart and add a chenille wire for the stem. Add a strip of paper to the stem with today’s Bible verse OR attach a seed packet to the “tissue flower arrangement” and tape a copy of the Bible verse on the packet.

“GOD’S WORD” Book:

Give children paper and markers to draw and cut out a BIBLE and write GOD’S WORD on the front cover. They can then add pages with pictures or words from today’s lesson. Each page could have a SEED drawn or glued onto each and then draw the TYPE of soil that the “seed” fell on (ex: rocky, weeds, good soil, etc).

SOIL AND SEED WALK:

Give each child some seeds and take a WALK outside to place those seeds on the ‘types’ of soil that were discussed in the lesson.

BIBLE VERSE CARD:

Give children a few pieces of construction paper and fold and staple into a small card to encourage them on the days they are having troubles and struggles. Each page can have Bible verses or phrases from our lesson today. Ideas –
DON’T BE AFRAID, I AM WITH YOU (GEN. 26:24);
I’LL GIVE YOU STRENGTH (Psalms 28:7);
GOD ENCOURAGES US;
GOD LIGHTENS OUR LOAD;
MATTHEW 11:28-30;
GOD GIVES US CONFIDENCE TO OVERCOME OUR OBSTACLES;
JESUS BEARS OUR BURDENS

WEIGHT HELPER GAME:

Let children try to crawl quickly to the other side of the room and carry something on their back. TRUST WALL HANGING:

Lay a long roll of paper in the middle of the table for children to draw on. Have children write today’s Bible verse along all the edges of the paper and then draw pictures of things or people that they trust! After all the drawings are completed, the teacher can take a BRIGHT colored marker and write JESUS across the roll of pictures!

TRUST WALK:

The teacher can lead the children in a TRUST WALK. Along the way, the teacher will say such things as, “Everyone sit on one of these chairs… do you TRUST it to hold you up”, or “Do you trust this door to open and let you through”, or “Do you trust this refrigerator to keep your drinks cold” (and hand each child a cold juice box and a cookie might be nice at this time), or “stand here in one spot and do you trust your legs to hold you up”, or “While we’re outside and looking side to side, do you trust your eyeballs to move with the fluid around them so you can see everything?”, etc! Ideas for this can be MANY and then have children sit down on the ground and talk about things that we can TRUST GOD to do every day in our lives!

CHALK MURAL:

Give children various colors of chalk and let children take turns at adding to the picture as they see fit. First child could draw the mountain in our story; second child could draw part of an altar, third child could finish the altar, fourth child could draw Abraham, and continue the picture while telling the story again!
